The E190-E2, which is made by Brazilian aircraft manufacturer, Embraer, is one of the newer aircraft in the narrow body aircraft market. The E190-E2 first made her maiden flight on 23rd May 2016, and was type certified on 28th Feb 2018.

The E190-E2 will be the third aircraft type to be added into Scoot's portfolio, with the concurrent two aircraft types being the Boeing 787 Dreamliner family, as well as the Airbus A320 family. This makes the Singapore based low cost carrier to be the first E2 operator in South East Asia.

The 9 E190-E2s will be leased from US aircraft lessor, Azorra. Deliveries of the 9 airframes will take place in FY 2024-25.

Featuring a range of 2,850 nautical miles, and a maximum payload capability of up to 13,500kg, the Embraer E190-E2 will help suit Scoot's low density, short to medium haul destinations. The E190-E2 will have a 2-2 configuration and will be able to carry 112 passengers. With the maximum payload and range in consideration, the E190-E2 will be able to fly to most destinations in South East Asia, but also as far as Northern Australia, Philippines, as well as China.

As mentioned by Scoot's CEO, Leslie Thng, The 9 new E190-E2 enables Scoot to "continue operating a modern & fuel-efficient fleet”. This helps Singapore Airlines Group in their commitment to be Net Zero Carbon Emission by FY 2050. The E190-E2s will also enable Scoot to open up new destinations, which will increase connectivity and flight network in Scoot and Singapore Airlines Group.
