Portuguese charter airlines, Hi Fly has announced that they will be phasing out the Airbus A380 from their fleet at the end of the lease term later this year after nearly three years of service.

The decision to not extend the initial agreed lease period is due to the low demand for the large aircraft.

Hi Fly is the only airline in the world to take on a second-hand Airbus A380. The Airbus A380 was previous owned by Singapore Airlines. Registered as 9V-SKC, the aircraft was the third A380 for Singapore Airlines and was delivered on March 2008. 9V-SKC was withdrawn from service in November 2017. In July 2018, the airframe was delivered to Hi Fly and was painted with the "Save the Coral Reefs" livery. (Airframe was registered as 9H-MIP)

Hi Fly will replace the A380 with additional Airbus A330s.
